Coaching model strengthens support for Nebraska’s early childhood interventionists
August 28, 2026

Birth to age 3 are critical years for development, especially for children with disabilities who need extra support. Early interventionists meet with families and provide services such as occupational, speech or physical therapy to help children learn and grow.

Since 2021, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln has worked with state agencies to build and implement a professional development model grounded in early childhood coaching to enhance early intervention services and improve outcomes for infants and toddlers with disabilities in Nebraska.

Storz’s Oct. 6 Nebraska Lecture to showcase high-elevation animals and scientific exploration in the High Andes

Some of the mightiest mice in the world live in the high Andes mountains at heights once thought to be uninhabitable by mammals. University of Nebraska–Lincoln biologist Jay Storz is trying to determine how they do it.  

Storz, George Holmes Professor in the School of Biological Sciences, will present the next Nebraska Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Nebraska Union’s Swanson Auditorium.
