Sponsored Programs
OSP guides the Nebraska research community in obtaining and managing financial resources to enhance research, creative and scholarly activities. This unit provides pre-award and post-award services throughout the award life cycle. The OSP director serves as the institutional official for submitting, negotiating and accepting awards on behalf of the Board of Regents.
Research Development
The Research Development unit helps build the capacity and catalytic activities that enhance faculty success and increase institutional competitiveness. Research Development provides services and programs to help faculty and staff prepare competitive proposals for external funding; advance the broader, societal impacts of research, scholarship and creative activity; and increase external recognition for the excellence and impact of faculty work.
Research Responsibility
Nebraska is committed to ensuring the ethical conduct of research at the highest level. Research Responsibility is a collaboration between administrators and investigators to ensure that research is conducted with integrity and in accordance with federal regulations, state laws and institutional policies. The Research Responsibility offices provide support for review committees and also serve as resources for UNL faculty, students and staff.

Project Management Office
The Project Management Office collaborates across ORED and with faculty, staff and administrators to strengthen the success of large-scale, complex and translational research projects. This unit supports multifaceted teams managing intricate projects, from project initiation and planning through project execution, enabling scholars to focus on their project goals. It also manages the Nebraska Research Enterprise Apprenticeship Program.
Industry Relations and Technology Transfer
Industry Relations advances public-private partnerships that involve UNL, with a focus on fostering research collaborations with industry. Industry Relations’ aim is to connect private industry with university talent. This unit collaborates closely with NUtech Ventures, the university’s technology commercialization arm, and Nebraska Innovation Campus, designed to facilitate new and in-depth partnerships between the University of Nebraska and private sector businesses.
Vice Chancellor’s Office
ORED provides the leadership, service and infrastructure that assist faculty and support growth in research, scholarly and creative activity. Support units work at the behest of the vice chancellor to carry out UNL’s research mission and accomplish its goals for research and economic development.
