Campus invited to May 14 celebration of Sheridan’s national academy induction

The university community is invited to a May 14 celebration in honor of Sue Sheridan, who recently became the first University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty member to be elected to the National Academy of Education.

The celebration is 4:30-6 p.m. at the AKRS Champions Club, 707 Stadium Drive. Refreshments will be served, and a short program will begin at 5 p.m. Registration is encouraged.

NAEd advances high-quality research to improve education policy and practice. Individuals elected as U.S. members are considered the country’s leading education researchers.

Sheridan, who joined the Nebraska faculty in 1998, is the George Holmes University Professor of educational psychology and the founding director of the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools. CYFS has served more than 5,700 pre-K to grade 12 educators and more than 105,000 children and adolescents.

The event is hosted by the Office of Research and Economic Development.
