As Thanksgiving and the holiday closedown period approach, the Nebraska research community is urged to plan ahead to ensure their research administration needs are addressed in an efficient and timely manner.

Office of Sponsored Programs

OSP has established deadlines and recommendations to minimize the impact on investigators’ activities. The office will be closed Nov. 28-29 and Dec. 23-Jan. 1, 2025. Normal operations will pause, and OSP staff will not be available to process requests on these dates.

To ensure timely processing of your requests, please submit all relevant documentation for the following services by 5 p.m. on the specified dates.

Nov. 26 deadlines:

Dec. 18 deadlines:

This lead time ensures that OSP can review, process and submit proposals and address requests well in advance of sponsor deadlines. For any last-minute needs, please contact the respective teams

Research Compliance Services (IRB/Export Control/COI/COC)

The Research Compliance Services areas will be working to meet compliance needs and deadlines ahead of the holiday closedown. However, some forms or protocols may not be able to be processed before the closedown for the Institutional Review Board, Export Control and conflict of interest areas.

IRB often notices an increase in overall volume, deadlines and submissions in the weeks leading up to the closedown. Starting the week of Dec. 16, RCS and IRB will review each submission in the order received to determine if the protocol or revision can be reviewed and completed before the closedown. Investigators are encouraged to submit their protocols as early as possible to improve the chances of review and completion before this period.

Investigators will be notified if their submissions will not be reviewed before the closedown. Reviews will resume Jan. 2, 2025, on a first-in, first-out basis. If revisions have not been re-submitted in NuRamp by Jan. 6, 2025, the form will be reset to preparation.
