Jacobs named to American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Historian Margaret Jacobs became only the second Nebraska faculty member – and the university’s first woman – to be named a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, honoring excellence and leadership across disciplines. Jacobs, who joined the faculty in 2004, is an expert on history of the American West, especially as it relates to women, gender, children and family. She has written extensively on U.S. government policies that separated indigenous children from their families.
