A recorded webinar on programs available through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development’s Business Innovation Act of 2011 is now available for viewing. Faculty interested in collaborating with industry or leveraging the state’s economic development programs for innovation are encouraged to watch.
DED administers several funding programs for Nebraska businesses that help fund research and development collaborations with the state’s public colleges and universities; match federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer awards, known as SBIR/STTR; and help fund prototyping and commercialization of new products.
The webinar was hosted by UNL Industry Relations, which works to advance public-private partnerships and university-industry research collaborations, and NU Connections, which links businesses to innovators at the four University of Nebraska campuses. Topics included:
- Business Innovation Act grant and investment programs, and how to use and leverage them.
- Nebraska Academic Research and Development Grant program.
- Nebraska’s SBIR/STTR Initiative.
- Various program changes for 2022.
