Effective Jan. 25, all National Institutes of Health grant proposals that generate scientific data must include a data management and sharing plan at the time of submission. Approved Oct. 29, 2020, the policy is intended to promote the sharing of scientific data and more quickly disseminate research-backed knowledge to address pressing societal issues.

The Office of Research and Economic Development continues to collaborate with UNL Libraries on providing information and training resources to help researchers meet these new requirements. Resources are available through the Research Data Management and Sharing webpage, including a link to the DMPTool, which assists individuals in writing a data management plan. Experts from the Libraries and the Research Data Team are available for consultation and review of plans.

Upcoming events include:

Feb. 15, 1:30-3 p.m., Dinsdale Family Learning Commons (East Campus) – Love Your Data! Write a Data Management and Sharing Plan.

Feb. 27, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Love Library South, Room 217 – Data Sharing and Management Plan Writing Workshop.

Registration is required for both events. Space is limited in order to provide individualized support in a small group setting. Additional information is available via the UNL events calendar.
