The Office of Research and Innovation is offering an information session focused on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Equipment Grant Program. University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty interested in applying for this opportunity are invited to attend the Nov. 6 Zoom event, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
The program increases access to shared-use, special-purpose equipment/instruments to strengthen the quality and expand the scope of fundamental and applied research for use in the food and agricultural sciences programs at institutions of higher education, including state Cooperative Extension Systems. The program enables institutions to acquire one major piece of equipment/instrument to support research, training and extension goals that may be too costly and/or not appropriate for support through other National Institute of Food and Agriculture grant programs.
Historically, institutions have been limited to submitting only two EGP applications per deadline. A limited submission competition is anticipated in early 2025 to select UNL teams to apply to the 2025 deadline.
During the session:
- NIFA National Program Leaders Christopher Green and Junia Jean-Gilles Beaubrun will provide an overview of the funding opportunity and tips for success.
- A panel of principal investigators associated with previously funded EGPs will share their experiences and lessons learned while leading their projects and address participant questions. Panelists include: Chris Davies (Utah State University), Grace Danao (UNL), Jason Karl (University of Idaho), and Diane Bimczok (Montana State University).
The information session is hosted by the University of Idaho and organized in collaboration with UNL; Montana State University; the University of Nevada, Reno; and Utah State University.
