The university community is invited to an Oct. 1 event highlighting the Realities of Academic Data Sharing Initiative. Hosted by the University Libraries, the event will feature experts who share results of a study led by RADS, a multi-institutional effort to understand and improve data management practices at research-intensive universities.
The event will feature four hybrid sessions beginning at 8:45 a.m. in the Regency Suite of the Nebraska Union. Review the full agenda and register to attend any or all sessions. Participants should select the remote option to receive the Zoom link.
Since 2024, UNL has been a partner in the RADS Initiative, a project to examine how researchers manage and share their data and how campus units can support that work.
The day will include a walkthrough of UNL-specific findings, an overview of the broader project and its results, and benchmarking and peer comparisons. It is also an opportunity to connect with colleagues from units across campus (e.g., the Libraries, research administration, ITS and other units) who share an interest in this work and to begin discussing how UNL services and support could grow.
Over the last year, investigators surveyed funded researchers and interviewed administrators involved in data management and data sharing support activities. Members of the RADS team, which includes Leslie Delserone, professor of research data services and science librarian, will present the findings. Delserone is a co-principal investigator on the research team. The effort was initially supported by the National Science Foundation and is now funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
