University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty writing grant proposals that require a broader impacts section are encouraged to take advantage of a new resource on the Office of Proposal Development website.

Broader Impacts provides easily accessible information on broader impacts, including potential partners and evaluation resources. Faculty are encouraged to use this information to develop the broader impacts components of grant proposals.

Broader impacts encompass a research project’s potential to benefit society and contribute to desired societal outcomes. All National Science Foundation proposals must address broader impacts. Other sponsors are beginning to implement similar requirements. Broader impacts may be accomplished through the research itself, or by activities directly related to, supported by or complementary to the research.

For more information or to request individualized consultation on the development of a broader impacts plan, contact Tisha Mullen, director of proposal development, 402-472-2894.
