The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is now using the Virtual Incentives digital rewards platform to distribute compensation to research participants on projects approved by the Institutional Review Board.
Principal investigators can manage their own VI account, allowing for swift payment processing and a customizable compensation experience. With VI, participants are now allowed to receive Visa eGift Cards with no additional processing fees. The platform also offers 195 brands of digital gift cards.
VI offers three programs:
- Virtual Visa, an electronic gift card that can be used anywhere that accepts Visa cards. No fulfillment fee applies.
- GiftCard PASS, an option that allows recipients to choose from pre-selected brands included in the pass. For example, each recipient could choose a gift card from either Starbucks, Amazon or Target. Those distributing compensation can select from more than 195 gift card brands to offer recipients. This option has a $0.25 fulfillment fee.
- eGiftCard, which allows UNL groups to choose and send one specific gift card brand to recipients in a program. For example, all participants would receive an Amazon.com eGift card. This option has a $0.25 fulfillment fee.
To start using Virtual Incentives, contact Jessica Cronin, administrative coordinator. She will work with Virtual Incentives to set up a VI Now account for your study’s specific needs and provide training to use the platform. A website outlining all methods for research participant compensation is coming soon. Details will be announced in Research News.
