The Bureau of Sociological Research will administer the 45th Nebraska Annual Social Indicators Survey soon. Researchers are encouraged to utilize this cost-effective method of collecting pilot data for grant submissions. April 30 is the deadline to indicate interest in participating in the 2022 NASIS.
NASIS is a mail survey of at least 1,000 Nebraska adults. It has been conducted since 1977 and is recognized by researchers, state agencies and legislators as a scientific way to measure public opinion and behaviors regarding various issues facing Nebraskans. BOSR works with researchers to develop items for inclusion in the survey to best suit their needs and interests. It is a cost-effective way to obtain valuable survey data because the expense for obtaining basic demographic information, including age, sex, family and employment, is shared by all participating researchers.
In addition to receiving basic data, researchers also can add survey questions that reflect their own research objectives. The 2022 cost is approximately $7,500 per page. They also may purchase partial pages (e.g., a half-page or quarter-page) at a prorated price.
BOSR shares the data with only the client until one year later, when it becomes publicly available. As such, researchers have one year to conduct their analyses before anyone else may access the data.
Data collection is scheduled to begin in July, with client data delivered in November. To stay on this timeline, BOSR would like to initiate discussions with prospective clients as soon as possible and no later than April 30.
