Nebraska researchers are encouraged to mark their calendars for the University Libraries’ spring workshops, which cover a range of data management topics, including how to use SANDY: Stewarding Nebraska Data, the new research data repository.
Events are geared toward faculty and graduate students; however, the ArcGIS sessions are also open to undergraduates. Registration details and full descriptions of each event are available via the UNL Events Calendar or the links below.
The following workshops will be offered during the spring semester.
- Feb. 11, 12-1 p.m. (virtual) – Introduction to comprehensive searching, presented by Elle Covington, assistant professor of libraries.
- Feb. 12, 12-1 p.m. (virtual) –Data Management for (Digital) Humanities, presented by Scout Calvert, associate professor and chair of the libraries’ Research Partnerships unit.
- Feb. 14, 12-1 p.m. (virtual) – Introducing SANDY Research Data Repository, presented by Calvert and Leslie Delserone, professor of libraries.
- Feb. 19, 10-11 a.m., Witt Room (LLS 224), Love Library South – ArcGIS Online: Maps for Everyone, presented by Wenjie Wang, assistant professor of libraries. Before the workshop, request an ArcGIS Online software license through the Enterprise Software Request page.
- Feb. 21, 2-3 p.m., Witt Room (LLS 224), Love Library South – Share Your Story with ArcGIS StoryMaps, presented by Wang. Request an ArcGIS Online software license before the workshop through the Enterprise Software Request page.
- Feb. 26, 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Witt Room (LLS 224), Love Library South – Oh article, where art thou? Demystifying the literature review search process for graduate students, presented by Gabriel Bruguier, assistant professor of libraries.
- March 3, 12-1:15 p.m. (virtual) – Crash Course in Research Data Management, presented by Calvert.
- March 18, 12-1 p.m. (virtual) – Data Management Fundamentals for Graduate Students, presented by Delserone.
