Transparency goal of IRB metrics

As part of the Institutional Review Board’s continued commitment to transparency, it has published some of the most commonly referenced metrics on the IRB website. These metrics are important tools in tracking and monitoring IRB performance, implementing quality improvement initiatives, identifying necessary resources and reporting to AAHRPP accreditors annually.

UNL’s Human Research Protection Program has full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs.

The website highlights metrics from calendar year 2017, including the number of protocols reviewed, the total number of forms reviewed that are associated with those protocols, total number of forms reviewed per IRB coordinator, median review times and the number of immediate project review requests. The median review times include holidays, weekends, principal investigators’ response times and outliers.
