Hamernik interim head of Research Compliance
Deb Hamernik, associate dean of UNL’s Agricultural Research Division, is now interim director of Research Compliance Services in the Office of Research and Economic Development.
Hamernik’s appointment is effective immediately. She succeeds Sara Conrad, who recently left UNL. Hamernik, a professor of animal science, continues her full-time appointment as associate dean of ARD. She can be reached by email at dhamernik2@unl.edu or at (402) 472-2045.
A national search is under way for a permanent Research Compliance Services director.
Research Compliance Services is located in the Whittier Research Center, Room 278.
RCS manages UNL’s Human Research Protections Program and the Institutional Review Board, which reviews and authorizes study protocols for research with human subjects. RCS also provides educational activities to strengthen the responsible conduct of research; manages the process for research-related interest disclosure and management, including the Conflict of Interest in Research Committee; and conducts research misconduct investigations. This team includes UNL’s export control program, which works to ensure UNL’s compliance with all U.S. export control laws and regulations.
