March 31 is the deadline to apply for Layman awards, internal grants of up to $10,000 each aimed at enhancing faculty members’ ability to obtain external research funding to support prominent scholarly work.
The two types of Layman awards are:
- The Layman Seed Program, which provides seed funding for research projects proposed by early career faculty who are nontenured at the time of submission.
- The New Directions Program provides funding for faculty who are tenured at the time of application and branching into new research directions or who need funding to support pilot/developmental work toward the next step in a funded research program.
The RFAs are available at the Internal Funding Opportunities site. Applications must be fully routed in NuRamp by 5 p.m. March 31. The deadline is for the funding period of Aug. 1, 2022, to July 31, 2023. Awards will be announced by July 1.
