The University of Nebraska is extending a grant program to encourage faculty researchers across all four campuses to employ NU core facilities in their research projects. The program is accepting applications for 2018-2019.

The Core Facility Grant Program, sponsored by the Nebraska Research Initiative in conjunction with campus research offices, is geared toward new users of core facilities. The program’s aim is to help researchers generate data that strengthens grant proposals, resubmissions and peer-reviewed manuscripts. The Office of Research and Economic Development encourages UNL faculty to participate.

Faculty members from all ranks are eligible to submit proposals if they did not use core facilities or associated technology platforms in fiscal year 2017 or 2018. Applicants may request $5,000 per facility, or up to $9,000 total if they use more than one facility. Twenty-two core facilities at UNL and 11 at UNMC are program collaborators. View the list of eligible facilities.

Proposals are reviewed on an ongoing basis by core facility directors and the research office on the campus where the core facility resides. Reviewers are considering project merit; proposal content; the facility’s capacity to help meet the project’s goals and objectives; and the principal investigator’s overall research record. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions within two to three weeks of submitting a proposal. New awards will not be made after March 31, 2019.

Researchers must submit applications via grants-awards.nebraska.edu. View the Core Facility Grant Program webpage for a full description of the application process and requirements or download the PDF.
