Several internal funding programs sponsored by the Office of Research and Economic Development and the Research Council have fall application deadlines.
The fall deadline for ORED’s Arts and Humanities Research Enhancement Program is Oct. 6. The program is designed to foster research, scholarship and creative activity in the arts and humanities. The program provides up to $15,000 to help faculty achieve short-term goals that, in turn, increase competitiveness for external grants or increase the societal impact of their work.
Applications to the following Research Council opportunities are due Oct. 13:
- Faculty Seed Grants, for projects that encourage and enhance research, creative and scholarly activities and improve prospects of obtaining outside support; available to scholars from all disciplines, with preference toward early-career faculty; maximum $10,000.
- Grants-in-Aid, for projects that promote research, creative and scholarly activities and may or may not enhance the prospects for obtaining outside support; available to scholars from all disciplines; maximum $7,500 for individual applications, $10,000 for joint.
- Interdisciplinary Research Grants, designed for projects that bring together faculty from “non-alike” departments and colleges; maximum typically $20,000, though larger grants may be available for notably ambitious, truly multi-disciplinary initiatives.
- Visiting Scholar/Distinguished Lecturer/Symposia, up to $800 available for support of visiting scholars; up to $3,000 for distinguished lecturers; and up to $3,000 for symposia.
In addition, ORED accepts applications for two funding programs on a rolling (continual) basis. Biomedical Research Seed Grants support faculty seeking R21 or R01 funding from the National Institutes of Health. Revision Awards are available to help faculty revise promising federal grant applications that were previously unfunded.
