The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Accounting Office has increased the compensation amount requiring collection of Social Security numbers from research participants. Researchers do not need to obtain Social Security numbers from participants if the compensation amount is $100 or less per payment, and if the total compensation is less than $600 over the course of one year. Previously, the amount not requiring collection of Social Security numbers was $50 or less per payment.
