Spring Research Fair kicks off Tuesday

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s spring Research Fair begins Tuesday. The fair’s two-day lineup includes a session on using restricted-access federal data, poster sessions that highlight student research and events for graduate students.

The biannual event on April 4-5 is sponsored by the Office of Research and Economic Development in cooperation with campus partners. Events are held in the Nebraska Union unless otherwise noted. Tuesday, April 4

  • “Innovative Research Using Restricted-access Federal Data through the Research Data Center Network” is 9-11 a.m. at the Lied Commons, 301 N. 12th St. In this panel discussion, Nebraska researchers can learn about the range of possibilities for using restricted-access data to enhance their social sciences research and get ideas for collaborating with the Central Plains Federal Statistical Research Data Center. Registration is required.
  • The Undergraduate Student Research Poster Session and Undergraduate Student Creative Exhibition, sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Studies in conjunction with the university’s colleges, is 3:30-5 p.m. The poster session is held in the Centennial Room and ballroom, while the creative exhibition is in Colonial Rooms A and B.

Wednesday, April 5

  • A student development workshop, “Preparing National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program Applications,” is 9-11 a.m. in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center, Unity Room. Undergraduates interested in pursuing graduate degrees in STEM fields are encouraged to attend and learn about these opportunities. Registration is required.
  • The Folsom Graduate Awards Lunch, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., recognizes recipients of the 2016 Folsom Distinguished Thesis and Dissertation Awards and the Graduate Recognition Awards.
  • The Graduate Student Research and Creative Activities Poster Session, sponsored by ORED and the Office of Graduate Studies, is 3:30-5 p.m. in the Centennial Room and ballroom. Faculty are encouraged to attend in support of their students.
