Activities of the Day

11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.: Check-in and lunch at the Meier Commons (greenspace north of the Nebraska Union on City Campus)
1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.: Tours of labs, facilities and research spaces
4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.: Reception with networking, lightning talks with researchers and a resource fair (Nebraska Union, Centennial Room)

Showcase Tours and Times

Please select your preferred tours and times for the Showcase. Tours are 20 minutes long, and travel time between tour spots has been allocated into the schedule. Tours will be offered multiple times. Please note that you are not locked into the tours and times you select and can adjust them during the event depending on your schedule and interests.

Transportation to Nebraska Innovation Campus (NIC) will be provided. We suggest selecting your NIC tours back-to-back to maximize your time.  

Tour Location Descriptions 
 
Beadle Center, 1901 Vine Street
This 140,000 square foot facility is home to the Center for Biotechnology, the Center for Plant Science Innovation, the Plant Transformation Research Facility, the Department of Biochemistry and more, the center has teaching spaces, labs, research and instrumentation core facilities and greenhouses. 
 
Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior, Stadium East, 1100 T St, Suite C89
CB3, located in Memorial Stadium, is a leading research center pursuing innovation in neuroscience. A partnership with Nebraska Athletics, it enables state-of-the-art research in sports medicine and student-athlete health, with a cutting-edge brain imaging facility and specialized laboratories.

Engineering Facility Tour - Kiewit Hall and the Engineering Research CenterMeet inside Kiewit Hall (1700 Vine Street, enter from either the South or North)
Two of the newest facilities in Engineering at UNL will be highlighted in Kiewit Hall (including the Design Hub which provides hands on experiences for students) and the Engineering Research Center, a three-story 80,882 square-foot facility. The ERC is designed to support the needs of researchers focused on materials, biomedical engineering, and light-matter interactions and is the home to state-of-the-art technologies supporting manufacturing, healthcare, and energy. 


Food Processing Center, 2021 Transformation Drive
A multidisciplinary resource for the food industry, providing consulting, educational, technology and business development services. Equipped to work with products in every major food group including grains and oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meat and poultry.  

Greenhouse Innovation Center, 1920 N 21st St.
Cutting-edge instrumentation and infrastructure for plant phenotyping focused on optimizing yields, achieving crop efficiencies, understanding resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses and developing biomass for bioenergy and other valuable traits in plants.   

Innovation Studio, 2021 Transformation Drive, #1500
A community-oriented makerspace that serves as a hub for innovators, artists and entrepreneurs, this 16,000-square-foot space has a full metal shop, wood shop, rapid phototyping room, art studio, ceramics and textiles equipment and more.  

Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, 1300 Q Street
Named for the king of late-night television and Nebraska native, the center is re-envisioning artistic education for the 21st century as students work across new and developing technologies to understand and change how we see the world.

Morrill Hall, 645 N 14th Street
Nebraska’s premier museum of natural history, it has interactive exhibits featuring the state’s past and present biological diversity and shared world cultures.

Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience, 855 N 16th Street
Faculty and students from a variety of disciplines come together here in a nationally recognized center of excellence in materials research science and engineering, nanoscience and nanotechnology.

NIMBUS Outdoor Lab 
The Nebraska Intelligent Mobile Unmanned Systems Lab features the latest technology in unmanned aerial vehicles. Undergraduate and graduate students learn and create the future of drones here.
