Research personnel are reminded to complete the required new Responsible Conduct of Research/Research Security training in Bridge.
Deadlines for various funding agencies have been communicated in earlier issues of Research News. This training is a federal requirement and must be completed within the 12 months prior to the agency’s deadline.
The deadline for the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Department of Education and Department of Justice is Jan. 25, 2026. The Office of Sponsored Programs will not be able to submit proposals or move forward with awards if training is not completed.
The following is a summary of the training rollout.
- Fall 2025: Federally funded key personnel, starting with individuals who have Department of Energy, Department of Defense and National Science Foundation funding. Other covered personnel were required to complete training during this phase depending on the funding source. Key personnel were required to complete the training before Oct. 10 to meet the federal requirements.
- Spring 2026: Other federally funded key personnel who engage with NIH, USDA, DED or DOJ are required to complete the training before Jan. 25, 2026.
- Fall 2026: By the end of October, all other research personnel – funded or unfunded, including graduate students – will be expected to complete RCR training.
Research personnel are encouraged to complete the RCR training as early as possible to avoid any funding or other approval delays.
