The Office of Research and Economic Development is sponsoring a two-part workshop series to provide prospective applicants with proposal development strategies specific to the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) mechanism.

Part 1 of the series (Sept. 22-23) will focus on structuring NIH proposals and specific aims, and Part 2 (Feb. 2023) will focus on research strategy and resubmissions. AtKisson Training Group will lead the series.

The September workshop will be 1-5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22 and 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, Sept. 23 in the Pioneers Suite of Cather Dining Hall. Friday’s workshop includes a complimentary box lunch.

NIH R01 Development Workshop, Part 1 is free, and registration is required by Sept. 19. This workshop series is offered primarily for UNL faculty. However, research staff, postdoctoral research fellows and graduate students are encouraged to register and will be able to attend if space permits. Upon submission of registration, they will be placed on a waitlist and notified by Sept. 20 if they are able to attend.

Faculty who complete Part 1 of the series are eligible to apply for UNL’s NU 2 NIH program. Through this program, up to12 faculty will receive strategic proposal development support throughout 2022-23 and prepare an R01 application for submission in October 2023. NU 2 NIH applications will open at the conclusion of the Sept. 23 workshop.
