Registration is open for the fall 2024 session of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln I-Corps – Introduction to Customer Discovery program, a four-session virtual training program that begins Sept. 16. This opportunity is open to UNL and University of Nebraska at Kearney faculty, staff, postdocs and students, as well as community members.

The sessions are scheduled for 4-6:30 p.m. CT on Sept. 16, Sept. 23, Oct. 7 and Oct. 28 via Zoom. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 12; applicants will subsequently hear from program staff whether they are accepted.

Nebraska-ICD is a free entrepreneurship training program based on the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps program, known as I-Corps. The workshop is based on the Lean LaunchPad methodology, which includes value proposition design, customer segmentation and mapping a stakeholder ecosystem. The program also offers opportunities to lead customer discovery interviews, which can illuminate stakeholders’ pain points and provide information about whether an innovation will solve their problems.

The program also offers at least three one-on-one coaching sessions via Zoom.

Individuals and teams who complete the program are eligible for the NSF I-Corps National Teams program and a $50,000 grant for qualifying technologies and teams. They also will be better prepared to seek Small Business Innovation/Small Business Technology Transfer, or SBIR/STTR, funding.

Visit the event website to learn about more of the program’s benefits, as well as learning objectives, course benefits and the schedule.

Nebraska-ICD is hosted by NUtech Ventures in partnership with the Nebraska Business Development Center; The Combine, a food and ag tech incubator; and Nebraska Extension. For questions, contact Joy Eakin, entrepreneurship program manager at NUtech Ventures.
