NSF updates process for resetting passwords

NSF is implementing a more convenient, secure process for resetting passwords on FastLane and Research.gov starting Aug. 1. The change was originally set for July 25 and postponed due to a power outage that caused NSF servers to shut down.

Instead of contacting UNL’s Office of Sponsored Programs, researchers will be able to reset their own passwords. To do this, go to www.research.gov. Click “Log in,” then “Forgot Password.” Enter your NSF ID and click “Send Temporary Password.” Researchers may reset their password using the temporary password sent to their email address on file.

NSF recommends choosing a password between eight and 20 characters that meets three of the four criteria below:
