Effective Jan. 21, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and 16 other federal departments and agencies implemented the revised Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects, also known as the Common Rule. The Office of the Federal Register has publicly displayed the Final Rule here.

All human subjects research protocols approved on or after Jan. 21 must comply with the new regulations. To help University of Nebraska-Lincoln researchers comply, Research Compliance Services provides information on how these changes have been implemented at UNL on its Changes to the Common Rule webpage. Human subjects researchers are urged to use this resource for details on changes to the regulations and their impact on the university, explanations on compliance with the changes, frequently asked questions, training information and additional resource links.
