Espy named acting dean of graduate studies

Kimberly Andrews Espy, associate vice chancellor for research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has been appointed acting dean of graduate studies effective Jan. 1.

Espy is assuming the role of acting dean in addition to her ongoing responsibilities as associate vice chancellor. She is stepping in while Ellen Weissinger, dean of graduate studies, serves as interim senior vice chancellor for academic affairs. Chancellor Harvey Perlman announced Weissinger's appointment Dec. 21.

Laurie Bellows, assistant dean of graduate studies, has agreed to take on additional responsibilities, including management of the day-to-day operations of the Office of Graduate Studies.

"Dr. Weissinger is an outstanding administrator and colleague and I know she’ll be tremendous in this new role," said Prem Paul, vice chancellor for research and economic development in announcing Espy's appointment. "I'm grateful to Dr. Espy for her leadership and to Dr. Bellows for tackling additional responsibilities. The university will be well served by their extra efforts."
