NUtech Ventures and the Nebraska Business Development Center will lead a free, four-session customer discovery training program beginning Sept. 14 and ending Oct. 26.

The noncredit “Nebraska-Introduction to Customer Discovery” program is open to Nebraska faculty, students, staff and postdoctoral scholars interested in strategies for connecting research with market applications. It is based on the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps, or I-Corps, program that helps researchers develop a value proposition and customer segmentation. After identifying and interviewing prospective customers, researchers can use feedback to guide decisions about launching a startup company or commercializing technology.

The program features four Zoom sessions led by a team of UNL instructors and an NSF I-Corps instructor. It also includes office hours with instructors between sessions. Participants may sign up individually or in teams of up to five people.  As space in each cohort is limited, applications will be reviewed and successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the program a few days in advance of the program start date.

Program dates include four required Zoom sessions, all from 4-6:30 p.m.: Sept. 14, Sept. 28, Oct. 12 and Oct. 26.

Registration deadline is Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. or when capacity is met. Space in each cohort is limited. Applications will be reviewed and successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance a few days before the program start date.

Other host organizations are Invest Nebraska/The Combine Incubator and the National Strategic Research Institute.
