The Mayor’s Office and the Office of Research and Innovation are hosting a half-day workshop created to bring together leaders of City of Lincoln departments and University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty whose expertise aligns with a prioritized set of research topics.

The workshop is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 11 in the Willa Cather Dining Complex, 530 N. 17th St. Register by Nov. 24 to attend.

Its focus is developing research-based solutions to key challenges the city has identified, including: food insecurity, affordable housing, economic mobility, climate resilience and environmental planning, green finance and data-informed decision-making. This event is a continuation of the process started in fall 2024 by MetroLab Network to help develop a local research and development agenda for the City of Lincoln.

The December workshop will offer a unique opportunity for city leaders to share pressing challenges facing the community, and for faculty to suggest relevant research approaches and resources. The goals for the workshop are to strengthen connections between community needs and research opportunities by outlining formal collaboration mechanisms, discussing shared interests and exploring next steps.

Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
