The Office of Research and Innovation is seeking applicants to participate in a multi-institutional initiative aimed at helping faculty develop competitive proposals for external funding.
Applications to participate in InterFACE – Faculty Academy for Competitive Excellence – are due at 5 p.m. Jan. 24, 2025, via an NuRamp. The program’s focus for 2025 is strategic development of applications to the National Institutes of Health’s Research Project Grant Program (R01).
R&I will select a limited number of University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty to participate in the program through a university-wide application process. UNL faculty are eligible to participate if they conduct research in areas fundable by NIH and have not yet received R01 support as principal investigators. Details about application requirements are available on the InterFACE website.
R&I senior administrators, in consultation with senior administrators in the applicants’ colleges/divisions, will make participant selection decisions in late January.
InterFACE was co-developed by research development professionals at UNL, Montana State University, the University of Idaho, the University of Nevada, Reno and Utah State University. InterFACE: NIH R01 programming will occur in April and May (see website for details) with additional program activities and proposal review during the summer and fall. The intended R01 proposal submission date is February 2026.
