The Research Council is soliciting nominations for the 2026 Nebraska Lectures: Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture Series. The deadline is March 5 at 5 p.m.
The lectures, launched in 2003 by the council and the Office of Research and Innovation, are aimed at featuring the significant achievements and contributions of University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty, fostering communication across different academic disciplines and presenting topics of public interest to a broad audience.
There is a Nebraska Lecture in both the spring and fall semesters. Selection as a lecturer is the highest recognition the Research Council can bestow on a faculty member. Rochelle Dalla, professor of child, youth and family studies, will present the spring 2025 Nebraska Lecture on April 30.
The Research Council and the interim vice chancellor for research and innovation, who select the lecturers, now are accepting nominations for 2026. Selection is based on major recent accomplishments supporting a distinguished record and the speaker’s ability to communicate to an interdisciplinary audience. Nominees should be nationally or internationally prominent in their fields.
Nominations can be emailed to Mari Greer, administrative coordinator in R&I. They should include:
- a nomination letter;
- the nominee’s CV that includes significant scholarly accomplishments with emphasis on the past five years;
- a 150-word description about the subject/topic that the nominee would be giving a lecture about, if selected.
Nominations are confidential. Lecturers will be notified immediately after selection.
The location, format and dates of the 2026 lectures will be determined at a later date. Presentations typically are 35 to 40 minutes, followed by a question-and-answer session.
