Registration is open for Student Research Days, set for April 11-15. The annual event showcases research and creative accomplishments by Nebraska graduate and undergraduate students. It also is an opportunity for faculty and staff to interact with student researchers and leverage their expertise to encourage students’ research and scholarly activities.
This year’s lineup includes in-person and virtual offerings. Faculty and staff are encouraged to make students aware of these opportunities.
The undergraduate and graduate student poster session and creative exhibition will be held April 11-12 in the Nebraska Union. March 11 is the deadline for students to register their poster or creative project. Students from all majors and disciplines are encouraged to participate. Graduate and undergraduate students in engineering and physical sciences will present April 11. All other disciplines will present April 12.
The poster sessions allow participants to communicate their results to other students, faculty and staff. The sessions also facilitate interdisciplinary work by allowing students to exchange knowledge and ideas with others across disciplines. Top graduate presenters will be awarded $400, and top undergraduate presenters will be awarded $250.
Faculty, staff and graduate students are sought to help judge students’ posters. Providing constructive feedback on research posters is a concrete way to help mentor the next generation of scholars. Complete this form to register as a poster session reviewer. Faculty, staff and graduate and undergraduate students are also needed to help with event setup and cleanup. Other Student Research Days events include a connector for faculty focused on mentoring; a Student Research Days Slam; a Nebraska Lecture featuring Raymond Hames, professor of anthropology in the School of Global Integrative Studies; and graduate student workshops on leveraging funding opportunities and considering the broader impacts of research.
