Nebraska researchers interested in partnering with small businesses are invited to attend a July 25-26 workshop aimed at providing proposal development strategies for two of the National Institutes of Health’s major technology commercialization programs.
The event, hosted by the Nebraska Business Development Center, is in Room 1005 of the Durham Research Center on South 45th Street in Omaha. Tickets are $45.
Shannon Bass of BBC Entrepreneurial Training and Consulting will lead the training, which focuses on NIH’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs. She’ll discuss the mission, funding priorities and best proposal practices for SBIR and STTR. The next submission deadline for both programs is Sept. 5.
The workshop also includes:
- Current information on the SBIR/STTR programs.
- Strategies for aligning proposals with NIH’s mission and requirements.
- Step-by-step instructions for writing each section.
- Elements of a successful commercialization plan.
- Tips on writing to meet reviewers’ expectations.
- Strategies for navigating the submission process.
- Advice on avoiding common pitfalls and programs.
Bass has 28 years of management experience in the biotechnology industry and as an independent SBIR/STTR consultant. Before joining BBCetc, she was CEO of a biotech startup and president of a medical device firm.
