The director reports directly to the vice chancellor for research and economic development and is the chief academic and administrative officer of the museum.

About the Position
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites nominations and applications for director of the University of Nebraska State Museum, a large comprehensive natural history museum with a faculty and staff of 40, and research collections of more than 15 million specimens in paleontology, parasitology, entomology, zoology, botany and anthropology.
The museum has strong, federally funded research, education and outreach programs and close collaborations with university programs and school districts. It is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is a Smithsonian Affiliate.
The director provides vision and dynamic leadership and is responsible for developing external funding and partnerships, and enhancing research, education programs, facilities and collections.
The successful applicant will have an earned doctorate in science, museum experience and demonstrated leadership and fundraising skills. The director may be tenured in an appropriate department, if merited.
