Limited Submissions Funding Programs

Federal agencies, foundations and university programs occasionally limit the number of applications/nominations UNL may submit for specific grants and awards. When a call for proposals is “limited,” the Office of Research uses an internal selection process to determine which application(s) will be submitted to the sponsor for funding consideration.

Limited submission competitions are posted in the weekly Funding Announcements. Stay in the loop! Subscribe via NUgrant.

Limited Submissions Process

Submitting and selecting applications for limited submissions is a three step process:

  1. Notification. Complete an online Notification of Intent to Submit Form to indicate your interest in submitting an application to the program as soon as you know you are interested and no later than UNL’s INTENT deadline.
  2. Internal Pre-Proposal Submission. If there are more interested applicants than the sponsor’s limit allows, the Office of Research and Economic Development will conduct an internal competition to select the UNL application(s) that will be recommended for submission to the sponsor. In this case, you’ll be notified to complete an internal pre-proposal and submit it on or before the UNL PRE-PROPOSAL deadline.
  3. Selection. You will be notified by e-mail if your proposal has been selected to go forward at least four weeks in advance of the sponsor’s application deadline. At this time, you will complete the sponsor’s application and submit it for consideration for funding before the SPONSOR deadline.
