The National Science Foundation is initiating a pilot run of a template that enables proposers to submit collaborator and other affiliation information in a standardized, searchable format. Effective April 24, NSF will require that all applications submitted via FastLane use the spreadsheet.

The Office of Sponsored Programs includes a link to the template on its forms and templates webpage, under the heading Sponsor Forms and Guidelines. All principal investigators, co-PIs and senior personnel are required to submit collaborator and other affiliation information. Instructions for completing the template are available here.

Required by NSF’s Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide, the collaborator and other affiliation information guides the agency in selecting reviewers. The template is intended to expedite the selection process by eliminating the need for administrative staff to manipulate non-searchable files. The form also ensures proposers comply with NSF requirements for this section. Read more about the pilot program here.
