Registration is open for “The Art of Successful Grantsmanship: What You Need to Know Before You Write a Proposal in the Arts and Humanities,” a Feb. 7 grant writing workshop sponsored by the Office of Research and Economic Development. The workshop is from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Kauffman Residential Center. Registration by Jan. 31 is required.
The workshop, delivered by Anthony DePass of DePass Academic Consulting, is open to all faculty in the arts and humanities seeking funding to support their research and creative activity. Workshop topics include:
- Strategies for sponsor engagement.
- Navigating funding support mechanisms.
- Planning for professional goals and related funding.
- Understanding peer review systems and how the review process informs proposal development.
- Developing appropriate and measurable objectives.
- Strategizing (pre- and post-submission) to improve the chance of funding success.
Prior grant writing experience is not required but an outline of an idea for funding, written as a short abstract, will enhance participation and increase benefit from the session.
Workshop attendees will also have an opportunity to apply to participate in a follow-up intensive grant writing retreat series led by DePass on April 3 and the week of June 1. More details about this retreat will be available at the Feb. 7 workshop.
