As part of the Office of Research and Innovation research support offices, the Project Management Office (PMO) supports large, complex, translational sponsored projects from the early initiation and planning phases, through to funding, operational delivery, community engagement, and dissemination of the work.
During the project initiation stage, the PMO will work with the project team to review the project goals, research and academic impacts for the campus, preliminary budgets, and infrastructure opportunities. It is during this review that the level of the PMO involvement (support, participation, engagement) is determined.
At the time of project planning and development, the PMO will work alongside the Office of Proposal Development with the project team to refine the proposal theme, identify any missing pieces within the research or the team, define the governance approach, and develop the project management plan. This plan will include project budget, staffing, and sustainability components. The PMO will also help the project team define project timelines, milestones, and deliverables for an integrated project.
