Required and Optional Training
All investigators/graduate and undergraduate students/technicians/staff and/or any other employee handling, caring for or using animals in research and teaching at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln or under its auspices must complete the general regulation training. Two options are available:1) The general online training offered through Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI), which offers a self-paced, web-based tutorial. To be certified to use animals on campus or in animal facilities, project personnel must complete the CITI tutorial every three years.

Training Documentation Form (TDF)
A Training Documentation Form (TDF) must be submitted via NUgrant for each individual handling, caring for and using animals in research and teaching activities. The form will become part of the investigator’s Application to Use Animals Form (AUAF) and can accompany the AUAF, a modification request and/or an annual review or update.
The AUAF, modification request and/or annual update will not be given final IACUC approval until all TDFs for all personnel have been received, reviewed and approved by the IACUC.
