Research Development Fellows Program — Overview

Research Development Fellows Program

Program Description

The Research Development Fellows Program (RDFP) is an Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) initiative designed to provide the knowledge and experience early career faculty need to successfully pursue competitive grant funding. Through the RDFP, fellows gain access to the information and resources they need to develop and submit a grant proposal to an external funding agency.

The year-long program is composed of two primary components:

Learning Activities

At the core of the RDFP is a combination of formal and informal learning sessions designed to help fellows conceptualize project plans, interact effectively with program officers, identify funding opportunities, plan and draft effective grant proposals and develop an understanding of the proposal review process.

Consultation

RDFP learning activities will be complemented by one-on-one consultations with University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) administrators, faculty colleagues and ORED staff, who will provide advice and expertise to fellows as they develop grant proposals for submission. The program provides funds for fellows to travel to network with program officers and for external expert review of a grant proposal prior to submission.
