As a veteran faculty member, Jim Lewis knows a thing or two about writing successful proposals.
But when Lewis began working on an ambitious proposal to build a statewide partnership to support Nebraska mathematics teachers, he turned to the Office of Proposal Development.
“I was delighted and ecstatic to discover this resource,” he says. “They were talented, calm under pressure and eager to be helpful.”
The extra help paid off. In 2008, NSF awarded UNL a $9.3 million grant for NEBRASKA MATH, a statewide partnership that provides unique opportunities for Nebraska mathematics teachers to enhance their knowledge and teaching methods.
“The proposal development staff made such a personal commitment to the projects. That’s really special.”
