Bing Chen has always been a man with big ideas – but even someone with his enthusiasm sometimes needs help getting others on board.
Chen says he’s sought help from the Office of Proposal Development for the past five years to “turn my proposals upside down and make them sharper and more competitive.” He’s found the OPD staff’s expertise in finding external sources to review his proposals especially helpful.
Since 2005, he’s received more than $4.2 million from the National Science Foundation to fulfill his goal of introducing his robotics curriculum to Omaha middle-school teachers – and of potentially getting teens interested in engineering careers.
“It’s a winning formula, at least for me. I think we’d still be in the Dark Ages if we didn’t have this support.”
