Program Overview

Invited Scholar and Event Grants provide support to bring external scholars to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and/or host events that will advance research, scholarship, and/or creative endeavors at UNL.

The expected outcome for all award types is to strengthen intellectual communities and advance areas of research, scholarship, and creative activity that are relevant to the UNL community. For all award types, any supported visiting scholars must provide at least one lecture that is open, free-of-charge, and advertised to the entire UNL community.

Preference will be given to visiting scholars and/or events contributing most directly to UNL research, scholarship, and/or creative endeavors and to those that appeal to and benefit a broad segment of the university community. Consideration should be given to scheduling visits and events when a maximum number of people are present on campus.

For Invited Scholar and Invited Scholars Grants, funds may only be used to support honoraria, travel, and local expenses (e.g., lodging, ground transportation, and meals) for the invited scholar(s). For Event Grants, funds also may be used to support these expenses for invited scholars in addition to well-justified costs to host the event (e.g., food, facility rental, supplies, etc.).
