Cwood1Charles Wood laughs when he’s asked how often he seeks help from the Office of Proposal Development.

“I keep them involved in everything I do,” says Wood, the molecular virologist who heads the Nebraska Center for Virology, a National Institutes of Health Center for Biomedical Research Excellence.

Wood has received numerous major federal grants for his internationally recognized research on HIV/AIDS and his center’s research and training programs.

He says OPD helps assemble the vast amounts of information government agencies require. More importantly, Wood says, by working with him so much, the proposal development coordinators understand his programs.

“They understand the science and the things granting agencies require. Partnering with OPD allows me to focus on my research.”
