UNL Resources

Benefits

UNL has a number of benefits for which full-time employees are eligible on the first day of the month following your hire date. If you start on the first of the month, you are eligible on your first day! Please refer to the Human Resources pages for details.

Campus Maps

Where are you going? What’s the name of that building? Many questions can be answered by consulting a campus map.

Employee Services and Discounts

Take advantage of discounts and exclusive services for faculty/staff, from event tickets, to bus passes, to bookstore discounts and others!

Firefly: (employee business portal)

Firefly is the University’s web-based system that allows employees to manage their leave requests, print payroll stubs and W-2s, make changes to their home address/phone and W-4, allocate credits for the Employee and Dependent Scholarship Program (full-time employees only), complete NUFlex benefit paperwork, etc. Payroll stubs are archived, so there is accessibility to current and past pay stubs. Your ID is your NU ID# (on your NCard). If you are unable to access Firefly using the link above, click here and then select the Firefly tab.

Parking

Learn where and how to park on campus, use StarTran buses to travel between campuses or even plan your parking for game day/departmental events.

Understanding Your Pay Stub

Log in to Firefly, click on Help, Support & Feedback either in the ribbon at the top of the page or over the last row of tiles at the bottom of the page. Click on the tile that reads Firefly Help User Documentation, and then click on Paycheck Inquiry Overview.

Travel

If your role requires you to travel on behalf of ORED, you should become familiar with the NU Travel Office which is the liaison between the traveler and the university’s travel management company, Fox World Travel.

UNL Orientation

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln hosts a monthly new employee orientation where you can get questions answered.

UNL Alert

UNL Alert is a mass notification system that sends text messages and emails to the device and address you designate.

*Note: the topics listed above are not an exhaustive list, but a few key items to help you get started. Please work with your leader, or consult unl.edu for more information.
