ORED Templates and Brand Resources Available

As NURAMP and other fall presentations get underway, consider using the package of templates and brand resources that Research Communications created specifically for Nebraska Research presentations. Resources include PowerPoint slides, letterhead, certificates, simple handouts and more. These design resources take the guesswork out of finding the correct marks, typefaces and other design considerations – allowing you to focus on the content and sharing your expertise! Download the files from Box here: https://unl.box.com/s/fa0fwsqvio20mccneprdl4qs3ulxrr3z. Make sure to download a new template each time, as RComm updates these resources periodically when university branding standards change. For even more university-approved design and layout templates, check out the University Communication Toolbox: https://ucomm.unl.edu/toolbox/design-layout.

As always, RComm can work with you to create custom pieces. Contact Ashley Washburn if your team has a project that may require design work.

September’s most famous holiday is Labor Day, but did you know that Sept. 30 is International Podcast Day? In 2013, Steve Lee, who founded the Modern Life Podcast Network, heard a radio announcement for National Senior Citizens’ Day, which planted the seed for a day of celebration for podcasting. He and other podcasters put their heads together to develop a day to raise awareness for this entertaining and educational medium.

THE MONTH IN PICTURES

Bob Wilhelm, vice chancellor for research and economic development, was in Tokyo, Japan, last week for the annual meeting of the International Academy for Production Engineering. This is the premier annual meeting for manufacturing research, and Bob is an elected fellow of the organization. He was able to spend time with hundreds of the world’s best researchers from academia and industry and also meet with key potential funders and collaborators for Nebraska.

Bob spent most of his days in Japan at the conference center, but he and his wife, Lynda, did get out for some sightseeing. They made a day trip to Kamakura to visit some of the many significant Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines located there. Lynda is pictured (bottom left) at the Great Buddha of Kamakura, which dates back to 1252. On the upper left and right, Bob and Lynda are pictured in the dazzling lights of Shinjuku in Tokyo.

On his way home, Bob stopped in Seattle to join a team of Husker leaders and researchers for a daylong meeting at Microsoft to pursue new partnership opportunities. Welcome back, Bob!

Lorraine Moon, Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research, and Alan Dostal, director of research for the Nebraska Public Power District and liaison to NCESR, traveled with the NCESR summer interns, all Husker undergraduates, to the Cooper Nuclear Station on June 29. Cooper Nuclear is an 800-megawatt, highly secured facility located along the Missouri River in Nebraska. The three-hour tour consisted of a visit to the control room, the on-site training center and the cooling water intake structure. The group also had lunch at the Atomic Grill, located at the station.
