OPEN Book – May 2023

Welcome New ORED Team Members

Charlotte Straley, Proposal Budget Coordinator II (Pre-Award), Sponsored Programs, started on May 30.

I’ve been working at the Office of Sponsored Programs for the past few years as a student and am excited to join the team full-time after graduating! I majored in Actuarial Science, with minors in math, film studies, and English. As you can probably guess by my minors, I love watching movies and reading. My favorite genres are fantasy and comedy. In addition, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking and camping. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone at the office and learning more about research administration!

Hannah Kahler, Assistant Director (Post Award), Sponsored Programs, started on May 15.

Hi! I’m Hannah Kahler. I’m joining OSP after spending 12 plus years learning and growing in the grants/finance area within IANR. My most recent position was supporting a business center team and their units as a Business Manager.  I live in Lincoln with my two kiddos Delia (6.5) and Emmett (9.5) and husband Tracy (old). We also have a Boxer dog named Leto (13) and a Maine Coon cat named Eleanor (7 mons). A special tradition my husband started for our family is a weekly movie and homemade pizza night. Food brings our family joy, so we cook a lot. Another way we bring joy to our family is camping and an annual Fall trip to Maine.

William Johnston, On-call employee, Nebraska Innovation Studio, started on April 26.

Will enjoys helping members get their project to completion. He is a former Division I Diver for the University of South Dakota and has the special talent of performing standing backflips.
