Research ethics workshop slated
UNL faculty, staff and graduate students can learn about research ethics and the importance of research ethics education from nationally known experts at an October workshop on campus.The Promoting Ethics in Research workshop will be Oct. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Nebraska Union. UNL's Robert J. Kutak Center for the Teaching and Study of Applied Ethics is hosting this Responsible Conduct of Research Education Committee Workshop. The Association for Practical and Professional Ethics is a co-sponsor.
The Office of Research will pay half of the registration fee for UNL faculty, staff and graduate students who preregister and attend the conference. For more information on the schedule, cost and registration, visit the Promoting Ethics in Research workshop page.
Workshop presenters are Michael Kalichman and Francis Macrina, who have taught and consulted widely on research ethics. Kalichman is director of the Research Ethics Program at the University of California San Diego, and directs a project to provide Web-based research for teaching research ethics. Macrina is vice president for Research at Virginia Commonwealth University and author of Scientific Integrity, one of the most widely used texts for teaching in this subject.
