2007 Faculty Interdisciplinary Retreats

Energy Sciences Research

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

Purpose:
At the 2006 Faculty Interdisciplinary Retreat, energy science was identified as a major research interest, given the growing importance of renewable energy to Nebraska’s economy, increased funding opportunities for energy-related research and education and the interdisciplinary nature of energy science.

Given this strong foundation, we will focus on the following goals:
  1. Learn about the frontiers of knowledge and funding opportunities from several invited speakers who are national leaders in their disciplines, or who are directors of major federal funding programs with energy science portfolios;
  2. Learn about current UNL programs and projects related to energy science;
  3. Identify areas of greatest opportunity for new initiatives and collaborations in the energy sciences (including policy, economics, and business) at UNL.
  4. Recommend action steps to help implement these projects/programs, and to enhance the energy science community at UNL.
