


{"id":109,"date":"2013-06-13T15:37:38","date_gmt":"2013-06-13T15:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/research.unl.edu\/researchresponsibility\/?page_id=109"},"modified":"2023-11-22T16:42:02","modified_gmt":"2023-11-22T16:42:02","slug":"unl-life-sciences-annex-animal-per-diems","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.unl.edu\/researchresponsibility\/unl-life-sciences-annex-animal-per-diems\/","title":{"rendered":"IACP Services"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Life Sciences Annex and Manter Hall Service Centers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>IACP manages the UNL Life Sciences Annex (LScA) located on East Campus and Manter Hall located on City Campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The LScA facility<\/strong>\u00a0is designed to accommodate both large agricultural animals and laboratory animals at a BSL-2 level. This facility contains imaging modalities, a surgery suite, a necropsy room and procedure rooms, as well as the Biomedical and Obesity Research Core (<a href=\"http:\/\/cehs.unl.edu\/npod\/biomedical-and-obesity-research-core-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BORC<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Biocontainment Lab<\/strong> is designed to accommodate benchtop and laboratory animals at BSL-3 level. This lab contains carbon dioxide incubators, Quant Studio 5 PCR, centrifuges, and other equipment for BSL-3 needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Manter Hall<\/strong>&nbsp;is designed to accommodate traditional laboratory animals at a BSL-1 level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daily care of animals at both facilities is provided by IACP staff. Health care is provided by the IACP veterinarians and IACP veterinary technician staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical Support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>IACP staff<\/strong>&nbsp;provides assistance with tissue and blood collection, anesthesia machine assistance, surgical support, staff training, animal transportation and many more procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Available&nbsp;<strong>imaging equipment<\/strong>&nbsp;includes digital x-ray, Micro CT, Bruker minispec, PEARL\u00ae imager, and other specialized equipment available through the BORC center. MRI services can be arranged through the IACP office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other equipment<\/strong>&nbsp;is available, such as surgical microscopes, Physiosuite\u00ae, sterotactic equipment, gnotobiotic isolators, autoclave services, biosafety cabinets, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IACP works closely with the university\u2019s Veterinary Diagnostic Center and collaborates with UNMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scheduled use of facilities and services is arranged through the IACP office.
